I know this isn’t a place anyone would tend to go for do-it-yourself projects, but I saw this (forwarded from a friend of a friend of a friend…) and thought many readers might find this useful. I haven’t tried it yet, but the instructions look simple enough for very non-handy folk such as myself (and there are lots of pictures). Also, it doesn’t require any tools I’ve never heard of.
So, what is the project? Making a regular lamp into a cordless lamp. Yup, you could take you favorite desk lamp out to the porch and read well into the night without needing to sit right beneath the porch light (you’re still on your own to deal with moths). Or you could put a lamp anywhere on your desk without having to find an outlet your computer hasn’t claimed.
This link will take you to an example of a lamp without a shade, but there’s a link for one with a shade. Looking around the site, I also found a neat D.I.Y. project to light your bookshelves (here) – that looked a bit more complicated, but I thought you might be interested.
I hope you enjoy!
